Sneak Peek Inside Cade and the Tome of Creation
For today’s post, I decided to do something a little different. I’ll be posting the prologue of Cade and the Tome of Creation. Hope you enjoy!
“KRAAAAGHHH!” a gravelly roar echoed through the mystical forest. Just a second later, a man in a dirt and sweat stained tunic burst through the bushes and trees. His worn cloak flapped behind him as he ran as quickly as he could, no longer bothering keeping his hood up like he had done earlier. He ignored the stings of the tree branches that slapped him as he ran through. Without stopping, he looked behind him. The forest looked the same as before except rustling bushes in the distance that seemed to come right for him. His eyes widen in fear, knowing what causes the rustling. He clutched the book he was carrying tighter as looked ahead and tried to push himself faster. The effort was in vain after he tripped over a tree root that was peeking out of the ground. He quickly got up and began to look for a hiding place since there was no way he could make it now. The man made his way to a tree with an especially thick trunk and hid behind it. As he hid, he tried to control his breathing. Snap! The sound of a branch breaking made him hold his breath. He dared to peek around the corner of the tree, catching a glimpse of his pursuers. They seemed to resemble panthers but entirely made out of stone. Or at least that’s what it looked like to him. There was pattern like carvings throughout their stone bodies that always emitted a soft glow. The man didn’t dare taking his eyes off of them as the stone panthers looked around before leaving.
“Phew!” he let out a sigh of relief, letting himself relax a bit.
“Kgrrr!” a growl came from his left. He whipped around to see one of the stone panthers right next to him, glaring at him with its magical glowing eyes.
“Ahhh!” he screamed as he fell backwards. The stone panther kept slowly walking towards while he tried to crawl away from it without turning away. Crawling away was difficult since he was still clutching onto the book, which the stone panther was eyeing. Noticing this, the man threw the book in front of it.
“Here, take it back! I’m sorry for stealing it.” He told the stone panther before he scrambled to his feet and ran away. The stone panther didn’t chase him though. Instead, it used its paw to tilt the book and then picked it up with its mouth. Then it turned around, going back the way it came.
“AHHHH!” the man screamed in the distance before the calm silence returned to the mystical forest.
